Head of Internal Audit Function (677/HRS)

The client
Our client, Joannou & Paraskevaides (Overseas) Ltd, a leading Group of Companies operating in the construction, civil engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering industries, with a very long standing and successful presence in the Middle East and Northern Africa, is seeking to recruit a person that will head the group’s internal audit function.

• Establish and direct the development of the Internal Audit function of the group
• Establish internal audit policies and procedures
• Lead and coach the internal audit team
• Perform risk assessments and develop a risk based annual internal audit plan for approval by the Audit Committee of the group’s Board of Directors
• Plan and ensure proper execution of internal audit assignments in coordination and collaboration with the Audit Committee and Executive Management
• Present the findings of the internal audit work to the Audit Committee and provide value adding recommendations for improvement
• Follow up on issues raised and assess whether effective corrective measures have been implemented
• Provide to the Audit Committee updates as regards the implementation of the internal audit plan
• Plan and conduct special investigations as directed by the Audit Committee
• Perform internal audit consulting assignments at the request of the Audit Committee
• Cooperate and collaborate with the external auditors and other control functions of the group

Profile of ideal candidates
• A Bachelor’s degree in subjects such as Accounting, Finance or related field or Engineering
• Member of a Professional Accountancy Body (ACA, ACCA, CPA)
• Holder of the Certified Internal Auditor certification (CIA) will be considered an advantage
• Postgraduate degree in Business Administration (MBA)  will be considered an advantage
• At least 5 years experience as Head of Internal Audit with demonstrable ability to recruit, develop and direct an internal audit team preferably within the construction and civil engineering industry sector. Candidates with at least 10 years experience at a related senior management position with experience in areas such as internal controls, risk management, process effectiveness and project management may also be considered
• Working experience within an international organization will be considered an advantage
• Strong business acumen
• Dynamic with ability to take initiatives, provide solutions and deliver results
• Excellent relationship building and negotiation skills
• Excellent interpersonal and people management skills
• Fluency in English and Greek
• Computer literate
• Willingness to travel abroad extensively
